Garment Makers' Question Time
Garment making classes with Philippa Naylor

Garment Makers Question Time is a series of on-line garment making classes teaching the skills you need to make beautiful clothes which fit you perfectly
Whether you are a beginner wanting to learn the basics, or a more experienced garment maker wanting to improve your skills, these classes are for you.
How does it work?
All the classes are pre-recorded videos which you watch on line.
As a member you can watch them as often as you want, whenever you want.
Each class includes all the techniques you will need to complete a specific garment.
From basics like learning how to measure yourself correctly and reading your pattern, to couture techniques for collars, cuffs, buttonholes, zips and much more. Even if you already think you know how to use these techniques, Philippa will show you how to take them to the next level.
The classes build on each other - each class teaching new techniques - so that as you progress, your confidence will grow and your skill levels will increase.
The 12 classes in Season 1 are:
Class 1: The Shift Dress
Class 2: The A-Line skirt
Class 3: Blouse
Class 4: Trousers
Class 5: Lightweight quilted jacket
Class 6: Shirt for ladies and gentlemen
Class 7: The day dress
Class 8: Dressing gown and kimono wraps
Class 9: Sewing with knitted fabrics
Class 10: Jeans for everyone

Here is what students have been saying:
Susan said:
"I have made my own clothes for many years but decided that I wanted to take my clothes making to another level. So I joined GMQT - my clothes are now so much better than I ever imagined"
Caroline said:
"I wanted to make garments that fitted me and knew I needed help. Joining GQMT has far exceeded my expectations. I have loved every minute. I have loved learning new techniques each month and putting them to good use. "
What are the advantages of online classes?
Students are loving the fact that they can watch the same section over several times until they ‘get it’...
...And that they can re-watch a particular technique just before they need to use it so they can remember exactly what Philippa said...
...And the video camera is able to get in the perfect position to see what Philippa is doing (which can be hard in an in person class with 20 other people)...
...And the convenience of being able to watch when you want is so freeing - the classes are split into lots of mini sections so you don’t have to find 3 hours at once to watch it - you can watch one 15 minute section today, and another one tomorrow...

...And you are still able to ask questions and make comments. Students can make comments and ask questions in the video comments sections as they watch.
...And there is an exclusive Facebook group - where questions are answered both by Philippa and by the rest of the members of the group. And Philippa hosts a ‘live’ session every month to answer members questions and queries.
How much does it cost?
A one day in person dress-making class can cost upwards of $50 and often over $100 to attend. So to attend 12 classes in person would cost between $600 and $1,200. Plus your travel costs.
Philippa’s on-line classes cost just $15 per month.
We have been thrilled by the level of positive feedback we have received.
Debbie said: "I wanted to learn professional techniques. I so very much enjoy Philippa’s thorough lessons "
Carolyn said: "I have had a lifetime of experience in the fashion and education industries. I was burnt out from teaching teenagers these skills for over 20 years. Now I have discovered my joy of dressmaking once again. Thank you. "

How do I sign up?
There are several options to join the classes:
The simplest way is to sign up for the monthly subscription. You can try the first class for just $1 and then its just $15 a month. You get a new class each month, and you can cancel at any time.
If you already know how good Philippa's classes are there is a 5 class 'Starter' bundle to get you going, or you can get all 12 classes for $150 - equivalent to a 20% discount.

Who is Philippa Naylor
If you have not come across Philippa Naylor before, she is an award winning sewer and popular teacher. Whether it is quilting or garment making, Philippa's style is to make a few, high quality items, with a relentless attention to detail and precision. Mix that with a down to earth Yorkshire sense of fun, and a willingness to share her knowledge freely, and you will understand why she is a sort after tutor.
Philippa originally trained as a clothing designer and worked as a lingerie designer for 5 years. She then moved into designing and making bespoke ball gowns and wedding dresses. Philippa then discovered quilting and quickly started winning prizes with her quilts by applying her extensive knowledge of couture dress making and design to her quilting.
She is now returning to her first love - garment making - and focussing on teaching others the techniques she uses to achieve such excellent results.
